84% of African-Americans ages 25 and older have a high school degree, which has tripled in the last 40 years: (US Census Bureau)

20% of African-Americans ages 25 and older have a college degree or higher, which has quintupled in the last 40 years (US Census Bureau)

61% of students at historically black universities show higher rates of community service and civic engagement, compared to residential colleges liberal arts schools.

The study, which is called the Comprehensive Annenberg Report on Diversity, found Latinos are among the least represented speaking roles in film and TV, even though they make up about 17.4 percent of the U.S. population. Out of more than 11,000 speaking characters surveyed in film and TV, 5.8 percent were Hispanic or Latino.

If properly implemented, diversity efforts could net the IT industry an extra $400 billion in revenue each year, according to CompTIA CEO Todd Thibodeaux.

Women hold 11% of executive roles at Fortune 500 companies, and 4.6% hold the title of CEO. And a similarly small number of women own tech start-up, averaging a whopping 5%.
