Man Beat & Stabbed Girlfriend To Death Before Trying To Do THIS:By: Monya Fleming
A man in Ohio was arrested after beating and stabbing his girlfriend in the neck with a knife. A 911 caller alerted police that a woman was crying and screaming in a South Side apartment.
The caller told the dispatcher, "This guy is going off. He’s crashing everything. He’s beating up his woman in there."
Court documents show that police forced their way into the apartment in the Lockhurst Village Apartments off Lockbourne Road after they saw a man standing in front of a window covered in blood.
The man, identified as 23-year-old Gervonta Thompson, was attempting to flee by jumping out of the second-story window. Police caught him and Thompson was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center with minor injuries.
Officers made their way into the apartment and found Takasha N. Byers, 31, unresponsive. She had been beaten and stabbed in her neck. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene at 6:34 p.m.
Byers, 31, was the caretaker of a 3-year-old boy, according to Shelley Colman of Ypsilanti, Michigan, who said she is the boy's grandmother. She also had called Columbus police after getting a phone call in Michigan that there were problems.
Colman said that Gervanta went by the nickname "Germ." She revealed that he was dating Takasha and lived with her in the apartment.
She went on to explain the boy is her son's child and that Byers had temporary custody. Byers, Colman said, is her daughter's ex-girlfriend.
The victim, Takasha, revealed on November 7 on Facebook that she now had herself a man and got rid of the "dirty b*tch."
Comments made by friends under the photo of Gervanta made it obvious Takasha had recently "switched teams."
Thankfully, the little boy in Takasha's care was at a neighbor's apartment during the attack. Colman said her son and daughter both had lived in Columbus, but had moved to Ypsilanti recently due to Thompson's behavior.
She said she has tried in the past to get custody of the boy. Colman said, "I'm very, very upset. It’s a big mess. It's just too much. This is too much for a baby to go through."
Thompson was released from the hospital early Monday and charged with murder. He was in the Franklin County jail Monday night.
