Okay. Get Real Moment # 6: The tragic beauty of life is to experience a moment -- love it, appreciate it, be present in it -- then let it go, and know you may NEVER get it back again.

Thus, I don't want to see another "Friday" movie sequel. I do not want Chris Tucker and Ice Cube to "saddle up" and make another movie which:  A. Neither of them is really THAT excited to do... B. Comes down to how much money they'll be paid, and... C. Is trying to artificially re-create a singular, perfect moment in time with what would probably be a lack-luster script.

Did you not SEE Star Wars: The Force Awakens?!  Watching old ass Harrison Ford tromp around, probably stoned, playing a character he notoriously HATES, only signing up because of the OBSCENE amount of money Disney was paying him... and then in the finished film, feeling horribly out of place.

And don't get me started on "Grandma Leia". That physically made my brain itch watching her waddle around.

There is NO doubt that the 1995 film; “Friday” is a classic. All of us have his or her favorite characters and favorite lines from the film. All I have to do is look at one of my friends and sing out, "Big booty hoes hop wit it!!" to paint my fave of Joi rolling up to Craig's house.

After it’s release, the Friday franchise would go on to grow with two additional films, “Next Friday” and “Friday After Next" which were both 'aight... but not awesome like the original. So now, the concept of a fourth film, “Last Friday” has been going around. And back in August, Ice Cube took to Twitter and posted:

“We had a meeting. Can’t do Last Friday unless we can do it right. Ball is in New Line Cinema’s hands. Bat is in mine.”

Recently Global Grind’s BlogXilla caught up with Chris Tucker as he promoted his new film, “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk,” and was asked if he would revive his role as Smokey for  “Last Friday.” About which, Tucker himself said,

“I was flipping through the TV and I was watching Friday. It was a moment in time...  I don’t know if we can do another one. I don’t know if I can do another one because I was so young and it was a moment in time, but we’ll see.”

Exactly.  We have to learn to appreciate the original and understand how perfect that moment came together and not try to FORCE those moments to bring back a sense of nostalgia. My suggestion? Make a NEW "Friday" feeling film. A new "Barbershop"feeling film. Make something that is different  with some young, wild eyed filmmaker and some hot, unknown talent based on some cool new, fresh script.

We might end up with something even BETTER!
