5 Things You Probably Don't Know About Queen Latifah

Queen Latifah is without a doubt an amazing person. She is the crux of what hard work, perseverance, endurance and a positive attitude can get you in life. If you follow us regularly you would know this talented young lady went through such hardship growing up, losing a brother to a carjacking, dealing with molestation and abusing alcohol as a crutch to numb the pain of problems. That's just some things you may have not known about the enlightened rapper turned actress/celebrity personality.

To listen to her story is to hear motivation in every word. Latifah never let life get her down or use any hardship as an excuse. She always went above and beyond. When you're a child growing up you always dream of doing amazing things, but how many of us actually get to do these amazing things? The Newark, Nj native was invited to sing "America the Beautiful" at Super Bowl XLVIII and has her own talk show. What amazing feats of strength it is to go from not knowing if you want to wake up the next day from the abuse you take daily to inspiring the next generation of kids to not accept abuse as the only way of life, and to chase their dreams and ambition because it can lead to great things later on in life.

Let's dive deeper in to what makes Queen Latifa the Queen she truly is.
Her real name is Dana Eliane Owens and she was born March 18th, 1970 in Newark, Nj. Both her father and older brother were cops. Following the course of an extremely motivated teen she was able to sign her first recording contract at age 17. From that point on she was able to gain enough experience to manage the careers of Outcast, LL Cool J, and Naughty by Nature. It's safe to say she has a gift for music.

She also has noted growing up she was a fan of Prince, telling "Us" magazine that the first album she ever bought was purple rain and she would occasionally kiss the pin up poster that the album came with. Not adhering to any gender roles, Latifah is also into riding bikes, not passenger either! She owns five motorcycles and two vespas.
