BLACK CELEB KIDS POISED FOR SUCCESS

EJ Johnson

The always-flamboyant EJ Johnson is the son of basketball legend Magic Johnson, so he definitely has large feet to fill (pun intended). However, the young Hollywood star seems to be doing just fine outside of his Dad’s shadow. After being a cast member on the E! Show Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, EJ got his own spinoff show, aptly titled EJ NYC where he shows of his over the top personality and his love of fashion. The 24 year old has become a major staple on the social scene and has even worked as a fashion correspondent for the E! Network during fashion week.  I suspect we’ll see a lot more of the young star as time goes on, after all he said it himself, "I've always loved being in front of people, being on stage and performing. I love the attention. I love everything about it."

Jaden and Willow Smith

Many people find Jaden and Willow Smith (whose parents are Will and Jada Smith) quite strange— after all, they certainly don’t act or speak the way other teenagers do. Whatever your opinions of them might be, it’s fair to say that the brother sister duo definitely march to the beat of their own drums.
18-year-old Jaden has his eyes set on acting, fashion and music and he keeps us guessing with his unpredictable wardrobe choices, especially when he unapologetically dons women’s clothes. However his fearless fashion choices are paying off; he recently became the face of Lois Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2016 collections —the WOMENSWEAR COLLECTION of course!   Jaden is serious about his acting career as well, after starring in his first movie role, The Pursuit of Happiness’ with this dad; the young star has since acted in After Earth, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Good Lord Bird, and the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid. His latest venture includes a starring role in the New Netflix musical titled, The Get Down.

Meanwhile, his sister, 16- year- old willow is following in her brothers footsteps; she also acts, sings and models. After launching her music career at age 9, with her hit song “Whip My Hair,” willow continues to pursue music, and other endeavours; she has acted in I Am Legend, Kit  Kittredge: An American Girl, and she also voiced one of the characters in Madagascar 2. She has done fashion campaigns, and has been featured in several high profile magazines such as Wonderland, Interview and Teen Vogue. Willow is now gearing up to drop her newest album titled, Ardipithecus; and who knows what else this fearless little star has in store for the world.

Sky Townsend

Actor and producer Robert Townsend clearly passed on his talents to his gorgeous daughter Skylar Townsend— who goes by the stage name, Skye Townsend.  The 23-year- old has been making waves online recently with her funny videos and vines.
The singer, songwriter and poet constantly entertains her social media fans with her impressive vocals, but it is definitely her hilariously spot-on, Beyoncé impersonation videos that will have you rolling on the floor.  Trust me, if Queen Bey ever needs a backup singer or a voice double, Skye should be at the top of the list. Lately the gifted singer has been working on her music and she just released her newest EP, which is now available on ITunes.  Keep your eyes and ears out for this rising star; I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of her in the years to come.

Romeo Miller

Son of Hip Hop Mogul Master P, Romeo is on track to take over his father’s musical empire. The handsome star first captured our hearts as Little Romeo and released his first single, “My Baby” in the early 2000s. Today the, former child star has managed to sustain his career in the industry, he founded several record labels to include his current label, No Limit Forever, and has also been serious about acting, basketball, and fashion. His acting credits is quite an impressive one; he’s had roles in Charlies Angels, Single Ladies, Jumping the Broom, Brotherly Love, Madea’s Witness Protection and even starred in his own showed titled Romeo. He is currently starring in Growing up Hip Hop- a reality show, which follows the lives of the offspring’s of famous hip-hop stars. In addition, Romeo currently has a role on the hottest Black show on TV right now, Empire.

Selah Marley

The absolutely adorable Selah Marley, daughter of Lauren Hill and Rohan Marely is definitely one to watch. The 17-year-old teen didn’t just inherit her parents’ good looks; she also got their talent for singing, and seems to have a blossoming career as a model as well. Selah has nabbed campaigns for both Adidas and Calvin Klein, and walked in Kanye West’s latest show for his Yeezy Season 4 clothing line. Moreover, to really cement her model status, Selah was recently featured in Vogue, but if the modelling thing doesn’t work out this New York University student will have a degree to fall back on, beauty and brains for sure!

Bria and Shayne Murphy

If you’ve ever seen Eddie Murphy’s ex, wife, Nicole Murphy you know that chick has some good genes, which she clearly passed on to their daughters, Bria and Shayne Murphy. The statuesque girls are putting their long legs and petite figures to good use by pursuing modelling.  Bria, 26 was featured in Maxim Magazine, and was a spokesperson for Dark and Lovely haircare; she now has her sights set on acting. Her younger sister Shayne 21 is also a model, and judging by her racy photos, we’re sure she’ll be gracing the Victoria’s Secret runway very soon.

John David Washington

Denzel and Pauletta Washington’s son, John David Washington actually got an early start in the acting world, appearing in the movie Malcolm X when he was only 9 years old. However, during his high school and college years, David focused on sports and actually set quite a few football records at Morehouse College. The St. Louis Rams later signed David but his NFL career was short lived. These days the handsome up- and-coming actor is following his parents’ example; in 2015, he starred in the HBO comedy series, Ballers showing off his natural talent for acting, which seems to be his new career path.
