Chris Rock Lands $40 Million Stand-Up Comedy Deal With Netflix!

Chris Rock is doing very well for himself after nabbing a deal with Netflix to the tune of $40 million to produce two shows. Rock's big payday has him raking in $20 million more per special than even Jerry Seinfeld, Louis CK, and Amy Schumer have been offered.

Chris' last five comedy specials were with HBO, which include "Big Ass Jokes" (94), "Bring the Pain" (98), "Bigger & Blacker" (2000),  "Never Scared" (2004) and "Kill The Messenger" (2008).

Now, after eight years the 51-year-old comedian is returning in a big way to Netflix's streaming service.

Ted Sarandos, the Chief Content Officer for Netflix, said in a statement, "Chris Rock is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand-up makes him comic royalty. There is no one like him, and Netflix offers the global platform and creative freedom that will serve as a perfect home for someone with his incredible talent."

Lisa Nishimura, Netflix’s VP of Original Documentary and Comedy, also stated, "Increasingly, Netflix is becoming the preeminent destination for stand-up comedy, partnering with top-tier talent across a wide variety of styles and humor, enabling them to bring their fresh, distinctive and hilarious voices to our members in 190 countries around the world. Coming on the heels of our first Emmy win in the category (Patton Oswalt: Talking for Clapping), now is the perfect time to take things to the next level with Chris Rock."

There have been many great comedians that have been teaming up with Netflix. Some of these include John Mulaney, Cedric the Entertainer, Iliza Shlesinger, Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy, Russell Peters, Ali Wong, Mike Epps, Aziz Ansari, Anjelah Johnson, Bill Burr, Chris Tucker, Demetri Martin, Chelsea Handler, Bo Burnham, Jim Jefferies, and David Cross; with Joe Rogan, Dana Carvey, Michael Che, Gabriel Iglesias, Reggie Watts and Colin Quinn also making specials there soon.

Rock said of his lucrative deal with Netflix, "I’m very excited to be working with Ted and Lisa and all the good people at Netflix,  can’t wait to get back on stage."

The first of his shows will tape in 2017, after his world tour which he is currently planning.
