Common And CNN Political Commentator Angela Rye Announce The End Of Their Super-Woke Love Affair
Common, whose real name is Lonnie Lynn, Jr., and CNN political commentator Angela Rye have split, with Rye confirming the break-up to the New York Post's Page Six.

Fans noticed that Angela did not attend the Academy Awards with Common recently and did not attend the fourth annual Toast to the Arts event Common hosted with the Ayars Agency either.

Rye has now confirmed her split with the rapper on Thursday, after the pair dated for eight months.

The CNN commentator had nothing but nice things to say about her ex-boyfriend.

The 38-year-old attorney told Page Six TV, "We have and will always be friends. He is an amazing human being, and I'm a much better person because he's a part of my life. May we all keep loving and living."

The rapper and the activist started dating in the summer of 2017, making their red carpet debut as a couple at the Creative Arts Emmys in September.

Common previously gushed over Rye during his interview on Bevy Smith's SiriusXM radio show, Bevelations

The rapper said, "There's a definite connection with Angela Rye. She's a wonderful woman. I will just say, I am dating. I'm happy right now—and she is an incredible human being."

Common continued, "She's just a fun person, too. She honestly is about the mission and about the people."

He adds that Rye taught him that "just because you are conscious and aware, don't mean you gotta not have fun. You still gon' kick it, because that's part of me, too."

Just a month later, Common credited Rye with making him more politically engaged.

He told the New York Post's Page Six, "I feel like I have a lot more work to do...I feel like I have to be more intelligent with the work and strategize more."

Common adds, "I have to listen more and go out and do more work. It is no time for sitting back, now. This is the time to stand up, more than anything."

Last September, Angela congratulated Common on his  Creative Arts Emmy win.

Rye took to social media to share a photo of the rapper with the caption, "Super proud of this guy for having a big #EGO, which is not to be confused with a big ego. Here he is giving thanks to the Almighty for his Emmy just like he does for taking every breath, every single day. I’m thankful for his tremendous example of humility, leadership, kindness, and creativity. May we all be inspired to #WORKwoke."

It wasn't long before everyone realized Angela and Common were dating, which actually resulted in Rye receiving anonymous death threats.

Angela recently discussed Common's recent Oscar performance 'taking on the NRA' and it was obvious she had the rapper's back!

Common is the father to a 20-year-old daughter named Omoye Assata Lynn from his previous relationship with Kim Jones.

The handsome star has previously been romantically connected to Erykah Badu, Kerry Washington, Taraji P. Henson, and Serena Williams.

In an interview with Vanity Fair published on Thursday, the same day the news of her split with the actor made headlines, Rye gushed over Common.

She said, "From meeting Common I've definitely become a better human being, and for that I'm grateful."
