So Sad! Cuba Gooding Jr.'s Father Reportedly Found Dead in His Car
Cuba Gooding Sr., the father of actor Cuba Gooding Jr., was found dead in his vehicle on Thursday in the San Fernando Valley. The singer was discovered slumped over in his 2012 Jaguar. Authorities believe Gooding Sr. died of an overdose.

Paramedics were called to the scene at around 1 pm on Thursday afternoon, but were unable to revive the singer.

Law enforcement officials revealed that multiple containers of alcohol and drug paraphernalia were discovered in his car. They believe his cause of death to be an accidental overdose. LAPD stated there were no signs of foul play.

The investigation into Gooding Sr.'s death has been turned over to the Los Angeles County coroner's office. A toxicology test was conducted to determine if there were any drugs or alcohol in his system. The results of the test will take several weeks.

Gooding Sr.'s silver Jaguar was first spotted pulling up to the location around 3:30 am. He was last seen alive at around 10:30 am.

Cuba Gooding Sr. was not simply the father of "Jerry Maguire" star Cuba Gooding. He was famous in his own right. He performed with the soul group The Main Ingredient in 1971 after the death of their lead singer,  Donald McPherson. The band went on to land five Top 10 hits on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. One of their most well-known songs includes "Everybody Plays the Fool."

Cuba Sr left the group in 1977 to pursue a solo career and was signed to Motown and released two albums. He later reunited with the band in 1979 and they performed together through the 80s.

Cuba Sr, who would have turned 73-years-old next week, is survived by his wife Shirley and four children - Cuba, Omar, Tommy and April.

Gooding Sr. married Shirley in 1966, ending the marriage eight years later. However, they remarried 21 years later in 1995.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, and four children, including actors Cuba Gooding Jr. and Omar Gooding.
