DMX Breaks His Silence On Being Arrested And Facing 44 Years In Prison
Today is just jam-packed with updates about famous people and prison. First, we covered O.J.’s upcoming parole hearing (which, just to recap, is reportedly going to be streamed on TV this week) and now we are back with some news about DMX.

The rapper has a LOT going on right now. Like, a LOT. And we aren’t even talking about him falling off stages or his possible issues with sobriety

However, he still managed to take the stage at the Brooklyn Hip Hop festival this past weekend. He had just been released on bail a day before too. What a trooper!

Last week, the industry icon turned himself into prison after being indicted on multiple tax evasion charges for hiding millions of dollars from the IRS throughout the years. Yeah, never try to screw the IRS. They aren’t going to play around with you.

Now, it’s not super out of character for DMX to put on his imaginary preacher hat during performances, but he got a bit more personal this time, telling the crowd, “I’m not a [expletive] role model. I’m not a role model. But, you can count on me for the truth. I put my life on that. Whenever I go through something, it brought me closer to God. And I stay into something, so I’m closer to God.”
That is shockingly positive. Don’t know if we would be able to keep things that vertical if we too were facing forty-four years in prison

The feds reportedly believe that he used bank accounts of surrogates and paid usually cash in order to hide his wealth from the government; he currently owes the IRS around $1.7 million. Oof.

Oh and this isn’t his first rodeo; he has previously been arrested for reckless driving, drug and firearm possession, animal cruelty and failure to pay child support.
