High School Track Coach Arrested for Molesting Male Students BUT That's Not The Worst Part Of This Story — Watch

A former aid and track coach at a Maryland school was arrested Friday on suspicion of sexually assaulting at least seven male students, even recording some of the sexual abuse on video.

The 30-year-old man, Carlos Deangelo Bell, was arrested at his home in Charles County, after a six month investigation. Bell reportedly made videos of the assaults, which took place on school property.

Bell told investigators he was HIV positive and investigators confirmed the diagnosis. Some of the boys have already been tested for HIV, while others are expected to be tested soon. Authorities are not aware of any HIV-positive results yet.

A grand jury indicted Bell on felony charges of child pornography production and misdemeanor counts of second-degree assault on Friday. More charges may be filed as the investigation continues, according to the sheriff's office.

The investigation began back in December after police received a tip about possible "inappropriate behavior with a student while he was coaching track."

Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry stated, "A student's parent observed suspicious text messages on their child's phone that were sexual in nature."

Investigators sent Bell's phone and computers from both work and from home to the Maryland State Police crime lab, which recovered sexually explicit images involving the boys.

"Some of the evidence ... included graphic images of Bell sexually assaulting victims. Some of the crimes appeared to have been committed on school property, and others at his home in Waldorf," Berry said.

Bell was fired as a teacher's aid at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School in Waldorf and as the indoor track coach at La Plata High School after the complaint. He was also told not to have any contact with students.
Bell reportedly started working for the school system in 2014 when he became an instructional assistant at Waldorf’s JP Ryon Elementary. In March, 2015, he took the same position at Stoddert Middle. In addition, Bell was the indoor track coach at Maurice J. McDonough High School in Pomfret, Maryland during the 2015-16 school year before taking the same job at La Plata High in November.

The Superintendent of public schools in Charles County released a statement saying, "I am alarmed and saddened by these alleged incidents, some of which occurred at school. Student safety is job one, and clearly we have work to do to determine where we fell short in this instance, and how we can ensure that this will never happen again."

An email was also sent to the school district’s staff members and parents, pledging full cooperation with investigators as well as support and counseling for the children who were allegedly assaulted. The district is also planning to review its school safety protocols.
