(UPDATE) Drake Is Reportedly Right In The Middle Of A Scandalous Accusation Against Lil Wayne
The roller-coaster ride that is the dynamic between Cash Money bigwig Birdman and Young Money captain Lil Wayne has been wrought with drama in recent years.

In late 2014, Lil Wayne filed a lawsuit against his “father” Birdman after he halted the release of much anticipated album, Tha Carter V.

How much? Reportedly, the amount was “well over $10 million.”

“Weezy originally sued Birdman’s label, Cash Money Records, to have his record deal voided,” The Blast reported. “He accused the label of owing him tens of millions of dollars, including an $8 million advance for Tha Carter V, plus $2 million once the album was finished.”

As we saw in May of this year, Lil Wayne’s lawyer filed documents acknowledging that all parties involved were prepared to dismiss the lawsuit. Universal Music Group, the parent company of Cash Money, shelled out “well over $10 million” to settle the case, which officially separated Wayne from Cash Money.

Lil’ Wayne got his release from Cash Money Records, freedom to release Tha Carter V through Universal (without Birdman’s approval) and got to retain 50/50 ownership of Drake And Nicki Minaj through his Young Money Records imprint.

After the settlement, we later saw a video of Birdman & Lil’ Wayne publicly reuniting at Lil WeezyAna Fest in New Orleans three months later.

Unfortunately, the truce between Birdman and Lil Wayne didn't last long...

Birdman reportedly accused Weezy of being involved in a ploy to misappropriate Drizzy’s royalties.

Baby counter-sued Aspire Music Group, which is co-founded by Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant, holding both Bryant and Wayne in contempt for colluding with lawyer Ronald Sweeney to pocket more money from the rapper’s royalties. (Originally, Aspire was behind the plaintiff’s podium in 2017, when the company sued Cash Money and Universal Music for withholding payments, supposedly. They seem to credit themselves for discovering Drake and had a deal for copyrights and one-third of the net profits from his first six albums, while the rest was to be split up between the Young Money and Cash Money teams.)

“Aspire was simply a shell company,” the court documents of Cash Money’s claims allegedly declare. “There was no business purpose to forming Aspire, other than to siphon profits out of the joint venture and to divert those profits to Sweeney, Bryant, and Carter/ Young Money.”

Claims also held that the company was not involved in any other deals besides Drake’s record label signage…and demands they dismiss the original lawsuit.

But The Blast is making it clear that neither Wayne not his Young Money team are named as defendants, even though Cash Money lists Weezy as one of the conspirers to steal away with unauthorized amounts of Drizzy’s royalties.

Lil Wayne is now denying the claims of founding Aspire Music Group in order to steal profits from Drake and is now taking legal action against Aspire in a new lawsuit

By contrast, Aspire claims that the suit was filed in order to “concoct a new fantasy narrative that casts Cash Money as the long-suffering victim of a scheme orchestrated by the very parties that it just settled with – Young Money and its owner principal Dwayne Carter.”

It’s unclear how the parties will settle this case.
