He sure knows how to land himself in trouble with BeyHive…

Mathew Knowles, the Texas Southern University professor and father to Beyoncé and Solange, has claimed he was initially attracted to ex-wife Tina because he believed she was white.

Knowles, who released a book titled Racism: From The Eyes Of A Child, sat down for a recent interview with Ebony. His comments are raising a few eyebrows!

Mathew was asked about his experience with colorism. He told the publication that he was raised with a mother that didn't want him to date black girls.

He recalled, "When I was growing up, my mother used to say, ‘Don’t ever bring no nappy-head Black girl to my house.’ In the deep South in the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s, the shade of your Blackness was considered important. So I, unfortunately, grew up hearing that message."

Knowles continued, "I have a chapter in the book that talks about eroticized rage. I talk about going to therapy and sharing – one day I had a breakthrough – that I used to date mainly White women or very high-complexion Black women that looked White. I actually thought when I met Tina, my former wife, that she was white. Later I found out that she wasn’t, and she was actually very much in-tune with her Blackness."

Mathew went on to state, "I had been conditioned from childhood. Within eroticized rage, there was actual rage in me as a Black man, and I saw the White female as a way, subconsciously, of getting even or getting back. There are a lot of Black men of my era that are not aware of this thing.”

Needless to say that many of Beyoncé’s fans are unhappy about the comment, which led Ebony to remove the article). Some are saying that they are disappointed that during Black History Month he is talking about something that is so irrelevant. A few believe that he is only conducting interviews to make money for child support.

Another stated: “You’re too old to be this stupid! Black people come in different shades from light to dark, not just your complexion! I know the French were white yes, but we call them French. Black people are African, and we’re called black. Lmao but again Louisiana Creole is a mixed race of French (white), black (African) & Native American. Being Creole don’t qualify as white. I’m done talking to you because he does not know a damn thing about your own culture.”

What do you think about Mathew's statements?
