Meek Mill Petition Launched To Review Sentencing After Harsh Prison Sentence

Meek Mill Petition Launched To Review Sentencing After Harsh Prison Sentence
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf reportedly launched a petition on after Meek MIll was sentenced to years in prison for a probation violation. Bet Nicki Minaj won’t be signing it.

Joking.

“I felt the need to create a petition to reevaluate the charges, his impact in the community and the subsequent sentencing,” Wolf noted. “More than just a celebrity or rapper, Meek Mill has been a powerful voice in the community for our youth. He has made positive contributions to many communities and programs, dedicating time and money to the cultivation of our youth and neighborhoods; even through his own adversities. He has continued to be dedicated and shown an immaculate work ethic, even at times when the system tried to prevent him from being able to tour, which is how he makes a living.”

“The charges that led to his current violation were subsequently dropped and the stiff sentence was handed down despite recommendations from his probation officer and the district attorney,” he went on to say.

The petition is “designed to show the amount of people who believe that the punishment was harsh and that him being imprisoned will be a disservice to the youth and community at large.”

Jay-Z also have been very vocal about his support of Meek. In addition to a Facebook post, the music mogul recently brought up the sentencing during a concert in Dallas.

#HotShot #JayZ speaks on #MeekMill 2-4 year prison sentence. Thoughts?

"Meek caught a charge when he was, like, 19," he stated. "He's 30 now. He's been on probation for 11 years. [expletive] 11 years. The judge gave him two to four years because he got arrested for being on a bike and popping a [expletive] wheelie."

Meek Mill’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, announced on November 7th that he intends to appeal the “ridiculous case.” The petition has already garnered a large percentage of its signature goal.

Oh and we might as well mention the whole (alleged) bizarre Boyz II Men song request, because why not?

TMZ reports that Joe also claims that the judge suggested that Meek do a remake of Boyz II Men's "On Bended Knee" during a meeting in chambers last year; she wanted a shout-out.

Meek apparently thought she was joking and laughed. Joe insists she then clarified; “I'm not kidding,"

When Meek refused, she supposedly replied, "Okay, suit yourself."

“I gave you break after break, and you basically just thumbed your nose at this court,” Brinkley reportedly told the rapper.

"I may have made a mistake but I never had the intention of disrespecting you," Meek replied.
