Nelly's Rape Accuser Wants To Drop The Charges And Says She Has One Major Regret About This Whole Ordeal
A woman who accused Nelly of raping her on his tour bus after his show last weekend in Auburn, Wash., told police she wants to drop the charges against him. She is refusing to testify against the rapper and wants to end the investigation.

The unidentified woman's lawyer, Karen Koehler, posted an open letter about the situation on Twitter.

Koehler wrote, "We do not live in a society where a 21 year old college student can feel safe enough to pursue criminal charges against a celebrity for an alleged rape."

The attorney said Nelly's accuser told the Auburn Police Department and the King County Prosecutor's Office she wants to "put a halt to the criminal investigation."

"She will not testify further in a criminal proceeding against him," Koehler wrote.

Nelly's alleged victim claims she was upset the way the case was handled by authorities. The woman reported the rape to police and had a rape kit processed. However, it wasn't long until her claims were splashed all over the internet.

Her attorney's letter claims the woman is devastated and emotion due to Nelly and his attorneys claiming the incident never occurred. They insist she did not made the rape claim in order to seek compensation from the rapper and that the alleged victim has one major regret.

In her letter on Friday, Oct. 13, Koehler wrote, "Every step of the way since the time she called 911, she wishes she had not. Not because what happened didn’t occur exactly the way she described it. Not because she did not want the police to charge the celebrity with alleged rape. She wishes she had not called 911 because she believes the system is going to fail her."

Koehler claims her client has been harassed online and by the media. "She cannot handle this. She is about to break. She wants to close the door. She wants this to end."

Koehler concluded her letter by writing, "One day, maybe our world will change and thirty women will not be needed to (eventually) speak out against a celebrity who has hurt them in order to be believed. But that day has not yet come."

Cmdr. Steve Stocker of the Auburn Police Department stated that the investigation is proceeding. "We’re not going to just halt the investigation. We’re still investigating the case, and it’s probably going to be referred to the prosecutor’s office sometime next week."

Nelly's lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, said in a statement that the woman deciding to end the investigation was "welcome news." However, he believes Nelly should be given a public apology.

Rosenblum said, "This is simply not enough. This type of reckless allegation is an affront to women who are real victims of sexual assault. I am suggesting that Nelly seeks a public apology. I am further suggesting that Nelly considers whatever legal options are available to him."

Nelly's representative, Juliette Harris, revealed there had not been a financial settlement with his accuser.

Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr., was detained last weekend following his performance in Seattle.

The alleged rape took place on the rapper’s tour bus in a Walmart parking lot, according to police.

At the time, Nelly's lawyer referred to the alleged rape as a "completely fabricated allegation" that was "motivated by greed and vindictiveness."
