The family of a 27-year-old woman, slain alongside seven other people, on Sunday night at a Plano house, has stated that her estranged husband went on a deadly rampage before a police officer fatally shot him.

Debbie Lane, who is the mother of Meredith Hight, told WFAA-TV (Channel 8) that her daughter had been hosting a football watch party when the horrific incident took place. While she could not be reached for further comment, court records reportedly revealed that her daughter filed for divorce this summer from Spencer Hight.

Probably a good call.

Eight people ended up passing away; the remaining victim's condition was not available. Police have yet to officially reveal the identities of the gunman, the victims or the hospitalized person.

Authorities were called to a home (which belonged to Meredith Hight and her husband as of 2015, property records show) in the 1700 block of West Spring Creek Parkway about 8 PM on Sunday. When a nearby officer responded, he fatally shot the gunman.

Officers recovered multiple firearms of different types. Shocking, we know.

Court records show that Meredith and Spencer were married back in 2011 in Collin Count, though they stopped living together in March. She then filed for divorce in July, citing “discord or conflict of personalities." They apparently never had kids together. The court cannot currently comment on any litigation, at least according to a staff member.

Spencer listed a Plano apartment on Ohio Drive as his mailing address in a court filing in August. A neighbor dished that police arrived at the apartment about 1 AM on Monday. Officers soon broke down the door, after calling the maintenance staff at the Summer Meadows complex.

Search warrant information hasn’t been made public just yet, so it’s unclear as to what was discovered

According to her Facebook page, Meredith was a Georgia native. Her mother told WFAA that Meredith was having friends over to watch an Atlanta Falcons and then a Dallas Cowboys game.

"Let the cards fall where they may; stay positive and love your life," the introduction to Meredith’s profile read.

So sad. Ugh.
