R. Kelly’s Lawyer, Assistant And Publicist Sever Ties To Singer Amid Latest Sex Crime Allegations
R. Kelly's publicist and lawyer obviously want nothing to do with the R&B singer amid the sexual assault allegations. They both issued statements revealing they are no longer representing Kelly.

Kelly's lawyer, Linda Mensch, confirmed that she "no longer represented Mr Kelly or his entities."

Mesnsch has claimed her decision to sever ties with Kelly after four years is "unrelated to any allegations related to Mr. Kelly’s social life."

The "Ignition" singer's publicist, Trevian Kutti, has also announced that he no longer represents Kelly as of April 16, 2018.

Kelly's executive assistant, Diane Copeland, who  worked for Kelly for over a decade, has also cut ties with the singer earlier this month.

The news comes on the heels of new sexual assault claims against Kelly by a 19-year-old woman that stated that he "knowingly and intentionally infected" her with an STD. She also claimed he was attempting to "groom" her to join his alleged sex cult.

The unidentified woman issued a statement through her lawyer, Lee Merritt, saying she met the singer last June in Dallas. She stated they ended their relationship in February.

Merritt stated that his client "was the victim of several forms of criminal misconduct by Kelly including, but not limited to, unlawful restraint, furnishing alcohol and illegal drugs to a minor, and aggravated assault (via the referenced intentional STD infection)."

Her lawyer adds, "Kelly gradually introduced the cult to our client over the course of their relationship, culminating with an explanation that she would have to sign a contract and offer collateral information about herself and her family for Kelly’s protection."

The BBC recently aired a documentary about the singer titled "R. Kelly: Sex, Girls and Videotapes", which details years of allegations of sexual misconduct.

One of Kelly's former girlfriends stated in the documentary that the singer kept young girls as 'pets' in his homes.

Kelly's team previously had his back and vehemently denied the allegations. Last year, his then-attorney Mensch defended him after an investigative report by Buzzfeed accused him of running a sex cult.
It’s cold out here on the East Coast!

Mensch wrote in a statement, "We can only wonder why folks would persist in defaming a great artist who loves his fans, works 24/7, and takes care of all of the people in his life. He works hard to become the best person and artist he can be. It is interesting that stories and tales debunked many years ago turn up when his goal is to stop the violence; put down the guns; and embrace peace and love. I suppose that is the price of fame. Like all of us, Mr. Kelly deserves a personal life."

It appears people in Kelly's camp want to distance themselves from the troubled singer as more accusers come forward with their stories of sexual abuse.
