Russell Simmons Drops His #NotMe Campaign As Two More Women Accuse Of Him of Rape
Russell Simmons has made the wise decision to put the brakes on his social media campaign, #NotMe, after two additional women came forward with claims the hip hop mogul raped them.

A source close to Simmons claim he is keeping a low profile because he feels it's "time for women to speak.

Last month, Simmons launched a social media campaign with the #NotMe hashtag in order to prove his innocence. At that time, 13 women had accused him of rape or sexual assault.

Russell took to Instagram on December 14 to deny the allegations. "Today, I begin to properly defend myself," Simmons wrote on his Instagram page.

He continued, "I will prove without any doubt that I am innocent of all rape charges. Today, I will focus on "The Original Sin" (Keri Claussen), the claim that created this insane pile on of my #MeToo. Stay tuned! We'll share information today... And tomorrow the case of Jenny Lumet. My intention is not to diminish the #MeToo movement in anyway, but instead hold my accusers accountable."

Many people found Simmons' campaign in bad taste due to the existing #MeToo campaign that encourages women to speak out about their past experiences of being victimized by men.

Keri Claussen Khalighi, a former model, claimed that Simmons sexually assaulted her when she was 17-years-old. Khalighi alleged that movie producer Brett Ratner watched and didn't help her.

Jenny Lumet, a screenwriter and the daughter of filmmaker Sidney Lumet, claimed that Simmons forced her to have sex with him after he locked her in a car and took her to his Manhattan apartment against her will in 1991.

It wasn't long before 11 other women came forward to accuse Russell of sexually assaulting them too.

A physical therapist named Erin Beattie claimed that Simmons exposed himself to her when she gave him a massage.

Sherri Hines, a singer in the girl group Mercedes Ladies, alleges that Simmons raped her during a meeting in his New York office.

Lisa Kirk claims that Russell attempted to  rape her in a bathroom of a New York club.

Drew Dixon told the New York Times she was working as an executive at Def Jam Recordings in 1995 when she was raped by Simmons in his downtown Manhattan apartment.

Tina Baker, a singer who Simmons managed in the early 90s, claims he sexually assaulted her after inviting her back to his place to 'discuss her career'. Instead, she claims, he pinned he on the bed and raped her.

Music journalist Toni Sallie alleges Russell raped her after inviting her to a party at his apartment. She arrived to find there were no other guests.

Fashion PR maven Kelly Cutrone alleged last month that Simmons tried to rape her in 1991.
