Russell Simmons Accused Of Rape By Three New Women In New York Times Report
Music mogul Russell Simmons has been accused of rape by three women in a New York Times article. Drew Dixon, Tina Baker and Toni Sallie have all come forward with their stories of the 60-year-old's sexual misconduct.

The three women's allegations follow two other women coming forward last month that accused the Def Jam co-founder of sexual harassment and misconduct.

Simmons responded to the New York Times piece, claiming all of his sexual relations have been consensual.

The music producer and entrepreneur stated: "I vehemently deny all these allegations. These horrific accusations have shocked me to my core and all of my relations have been consensual. I have enormous respect for the women’s movement worldwide and their struggle for respect, dignity, equality and power.

"I have re-dedicated myself to spiritual learning, healing and working on behalf of the communities to which I have devoted my life. I have accepted that I can and should get dirt on my sleeves if it means witnessing the birth of a new consciousness about women."

He added, "What I will not accept is responsibility for what I have not done. I have conducted my life with a message of peace and love. Although I have been candid about how I have lived in books and interviews detailing my flaws, I will relentlessly fight against any untruthful character assassination that paints me as a man of violence."

Drew Dixon was 24-years-old when she met Russell while working as an executive producer at Def Jam Recordings. She ran into Simmons after she left a local bar and he offered to call her a ride home from his apartment.

Dixon claimed Simmons began making sexual advances once she entered the apartment and she felt "cornered." She recalled telling Russell she recently had a gynecological procedure and could not have sex. She claims he said he "didn't care" and she "blacked out."

"The last thing I remember was him pinning me down to kiss me on the bed," she told the NYT, and then recalled being in Simmons’s hot tub, both of them naked.

Before the incident, Dixon claims Simmons sexually harassed her at work. He would ask her to sit on his lap at meetings and would expose himself to her.
Backup singer Tina Baker also accused Simmons of raping her.

Baker claims she went to Russell's apartment in either 1990 or 1991 to discuss her singing career, but he immediately pounced on her. She recalled "him on top of me, pushing me down and him saying, 'Don’t fight me.'"

He pinned her to the bed and Baker admits she did "nothing." "I shut my eyes and waited for it to end," she adds.

Toni Sallie, a music journalist for Black Radio Exclusive, also claims Simmons raped her in the fall of 1988. Sallie says she was invited to a party at his apartment, but arrived to find no one else there.

She recalled, "He pushed me on the bed and jumped on top of me, and physically attacked me. We were fighting. I said, 'No.'" She claims Simmons then raped her.

Simmons announced last month that he was stepping down from his companies because he didn't want to be a "distraction." The move came after he was accused of sexual assault by screenwriter Jenny Lumet.
