Solange Opens Up About Her Relationship With Her Father Mathew Knowles And Reveals It WAsn't Always Good
Solange is way more tolerant and understanding of her father’s antics than we are.

She graced the cover of Billboard for their March issue and shared her insight on the entertainment industry. Oh and how she has had a change of heart toward her father, Mathew Knowles.

Solo discussed her wonderful A Seat at the Table project, which included skits of informational, yet intimate conversations about race and generational structure.

She noted that using her father and her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, for these and getting them in the same room together was “a powerful moment.” She apparently felt more understanding of her dad’s testimonies, though, as they helped her connect some pieces from her youth that impacted their dynamic.

“To sort out my adolescent and young adult years, there was still so much I needed to know because our relationship was not always very good,” she said. “It’s still very much a work in progress. But I think I have a much clearer idea of the trauma that he experienced and how it felt like it was then generationally passes on to me.”

The singer said that her mother never held back on sharing her experiences while Solange grew up, so she was pretty familiar with her perspective already.

That is actually kind of lovely.

Not long ago, Mathew appeared on “Good Morning Britain" to promote his book. Host Kate Garraway asked him what he made of Bey’s relationship troubles in the past few years.

(He once popped up on “The Breakfast Club,” to assure fans that the rumored marital issues, including the super-famous Solange & Jay Z elevator fight, were all some type of publicity stunt so that Jay Z and Beyoncé could promote their On The Run tour…)

“I feel very, very calm about this and comfortable. Both Solange and Beyoncé were given the tools that they need to be successful. Are they going to make mistakes? Absolutely. But mistakes are an opportunity to grow.”
“It’s always hard for a parent to let go. I felt the same way when I was growing up, I didn’t want to be up under my parents’ nest as I got older. That’s only natural. I think all of us have experienced that with our parents so I understand that.”

Yeah, we don’t really know if that is why Bey and Solange reportedly had such a strained relationship with him, but we guess that it is good that everyone is playing nicely together publicly these days.

But…how is that tell-all book coming along, Mathew?
