Can Terry Crews catch a break? C’mon.

The Los Angeles County city attorney has declined the actor’s sexual assault complaint against former agent Adam Venit…because the misdemeanor already falls outside the statute of limitations.

A representative for Los Angeles Police City Attorney Mike Feuer confirmed that Terry had reported the sexual misconduct to the Los Angeles Police Department. Unfortunately, the case was later declined, as Terry filed the report more than a year since the alleged incident happened.

"The matter was referred to our office and was subsequently declined due to the lapse in statute of limitations for misdemeanor cases," the representative explained.

Uh.

Terry spoke up about his experience, tweeting his allegations back in October. He said that the man grabbed his crotch without his consent during a party at Hutchinson restaurant in February 2016.

This led to Venit promptly being fired. Just kidding. We wish. No, William Morris Endeavor handed him a slap-on-the-wrist-level unpaid suspension.

Well, Terry then filed a report against Venit with the Los Angeles Police Department on November 8th, 2017, (a week later, Venit resumed his work at WME) and in a January 30th court filing, the agency sent out a gem.

"WME decisively addressed and punished the conduct Mr. Crews alleges that Mr. Venit engaged," their claim stated.

A huh.

As for the police report, the LAPD investigated Terry’s complaint, forwarding it to the District Attorney's office on February 6th. That ended up being a bit of a bust too, it seems.

"Given that the suspect did not make contact with the victim's skin when he grabbed the victim's genitals and there is no restraint involved, a felony filing is declined," the prosecutor's note on an evaluation worksheet stated.

And now here we are.
The good news is that Terry is not going to let this go; he’s still pursuing a civil case against the agent for sexual assault.

As he should.

"I’ve never felt more emasculated, more objectified; I was horrified,” Terry previously shared.

"Back in February 2016, I was assaulted by Adam Venit, head of the motion picture department at William Morris Endeavor. One of the biggest agencies in the world, period."

"But sometimes you have to wait and compare notes with others who've been victimized in order to gain a position of strength [...] Hopefully, me coming forward with my story will deter a predator and encourage someone who feels hopeless."
