Tyrese's New Wife Samantha Wants To Make It Clear To You She Was Successful Long Before Their Marriage

Actor Tyrese Gibson's wife Samantha may be sick and tired of people suggesting that she owes her success to marrying a celebrity.

Samantha took to Instagram to open up about her hard work on the road to becoming successful, something she did all on her own.

Samantha, who recently celebrated her first anniversary with the "Fast & Furious" star, felt the need to let the world know that she is a self-made woman.

Samantha shared a post to Instagram that read, "Ladies dating a successful guy does not make you successful. Success is not sexually transmitted. Get your own."

Gibson penned a lengthy caption to make it clear that she worked really hard to be a success. She points out that she graduated with a Bachelors of Science and was doing well long before she met her famous husband.

Samantha stated, "There’s people who treat me like I’ve made it because of the man that happen to be married to. NO!!!! I considered myself successful before I even gave him the time of day! I worked my behind off in high school, achieved high grades, worked multiple jobs and helped my momma clean homes and have a daycare service to make ends meet. I went to a great college, worked multiple jobs throughout school, dealt with abusive, heartbreaking relationships and friendships, serious family problems, economic hardships, homelessness, debilitating health problems, and I still managed to graduate on time, cum laude at UGA with my Bachelors of Science.

"I had several jobs upon graduating, which became a habit of mine, had a place with roommates, and did very well saving up enough money to go back to school to get my masters. Battled homeless again, exhaustion, emotional hardships Worked at some of the most difficult places in social work, and maintained a 3.98 GPA while hustling on the side as a bartender. I graduated, worked as cleaning woman, a bartender and at a DV / trafficking site while studying for my licensure upon graduating with my masters. I got my licensure and waited on God for my perfect job working within the school system. AND maintained my bartending job for some extra income."

She also touched on meeting Tyrese and getting a job running his nonprofit.

Samantha wrote, "Once I met my husband, I eventually made difficult decisions for our family, but LADIES, I was ALREADY set and successful in my own right. I worked my [expletive] off to get to the place where I’m at in my career, an executive director of my husband’s nonprofit. Not because I’m just a wife, but I proved myself worthy when I last minute orchestrated a large undertaking of an event while working my other jobs.

Her brand of feminism is being able to be respected.

"QUEENS, feminism isn’t only about the freedom of sexual choice, it is the ability to be respected as a HUMAN BEING beyond gender in the workplace, in salary and in position based upon your experience and how hard you work. I know this is a long post but LADIES, you have to know, at the end of your days, it’s NOT about the person next to you who determines how successful you’ve been in this life."

Last week, Tyrese and Samantha celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary. She shared a photo taken at the Red Lobster restaurant where they had their first date, gushing over her husband.
Samantha wrote in the caption, "On this day, at this restaurant, at this table, we started our journey towards forever. When I sat here last, I did not know who you would become to me. I didn't know the depths of your astonishing love or your timeless soul. When I sat here last, I was skeptical, guarded, distracted and a runner.. God used you to show me what love and life is supposed to be. I found more of my meaning through us, and I made a promise to God that I will do my best to love you forever for it. Thank you for introducing me to another side of me I didn't even know existed. I'm so proud of the man God has created you to be despite all that you've seen and experienced in your life. Happy July 23! The Day where it all really began 😍"
